The idea for MyDockMates was spawned by Hurricane Dolly which threatened the Galveston/Clear Lake area in
July of 2008. We had moved onto our boat just a couple of months before. Great
timing! We had a number of dockmates who were out of the country, and I wanted
to get in contact to see if there was anything I could help them with in
securing their boat before evacuating, but I had no way of contacting them.
Then, a few months later, along came Ike, and once again, I was wishing for a
way to get in contact with people who I knew, but not well enough to have
swapped phone numbers. I didn't even know last names in many cases.
I decided to do something about it, and MyDockMates was begun. This site has
been developed in my spare time while here on the boat at our slip in Clear
Lake. We have a Beneteau 423 that we keep for the moment at Waterford Harbor
Marina in Kemah, TX.
